BACtwin Forum 2025: Focus on the future of digital buildings

Symposium in Mainz highlights trends and solutions for greater quality and sustainability in real estate portfolios

On October 28, 2025, ICONAG Leittechnik will once again host the BACtwin Forum. The renowned symposium on the digitization of technical building management will take place for the third time since 2023, this year for the first time in the LUX Pavilion, the smart building real-world laboratory of Mainz University of Applied Sciences. Experts and practitioners will discuss current developments relating to BACtwin, present innovative solutions, and provide impetus for a sustainable, digital future for the technical management of real estate portfolios. The event is aimed at building owners, planners, and operators who want to intelligently network their buildings and operate them efficiently.

BACtwin, the standard initiated by AMEV, is the focus of the conference. It enables GEG (Building Energy Act)-compliant standardization of building automation based on BACnet – independent of the manufacturer, sustainable in operation, and usable for existing and new building automation systems.

Participants will receive concrete answers to key questions about digitalization in technical building management:

What requirements must the BACnet infrastructure meet? How can technical systems be successfully integrated into Building Information Modeling (BIM)? Which tools support implementation? What practical experience is available?

The event offers a high-caliber program with presentations, experience reports, and discussions. Representatives from AMEV, GEFMA, universities, and leading users and providers in the field of building automation will be in attendance.

Highlights from the program:

  • BACtwin – AMEV's successful model for technical building management
  • Practical reports on specifications, testing processes, technical commissioning management, and inventory data conversion
  • Digital tools for implementing the Building Energy Act (GEG)
  • Panel discussion: Opportunities and obstacles in introducing BACtwin
  • Insights into current research projects on decarbonization and digitalization

Finally, Mainz University of Applied Sciences invites you to a convivial conclusion with Rhine-Hessian wines and regional finger food – an opportunity for professional exchange in a relaxed atmosphere.

Participant benefits at a glance:

  • Tools for digitizing and standardizing your real estate portfolio
  • Practical knowledge and experience reports directly from users
  • Exchange with experts and decision-makers from administration, planning, and operations
